Can't I find this kind of info for free elsewhere?
You could, but you may find the effort to not be worth it.
General Online Searches
With a general online search, you may be able to find some basic information about a person. But in order to so, you will likely have to sift through pages of results to get to the right person. (If it's a person with a fairly common name, the task becomes proportionately more complex.) And whatever information you do find is unlikely to present you with anything close to a complete picture of someone.
In-Person Searches
The same thing applies to in-person searches. If you go to a courthouse or county clerk's office, you may be able to find some information about a person, but certainly not everything. And you still have to rely on someone else to get the information for you, with fees usually associated with searching, making copies, etc.
